OK I have several trucks that I do not drive very often. I crank them up several times a year. I have a bullet proof 1990 f150 5.0l that does get called into action occasionally. So it will go from sitting idle to 50-100 miles of driving a day. I also have a 1988 silverado 5.7l that I run even less. I rebuilt the engine about 10 years ago, and have put almost no mileage on it since. probably less than 500 miles.
I always worry about cranking them after sitting so long. Is cranking them up every several months the right thing to do. Or should I prime the engines like one would do for a new engine?
What is the proper way to care for rarely run engines? Or am I over thinking it here?
